Worth pondering about:
Mahatma Ghandi said:
“There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever”
“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”
“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

DP world IPO
DPW IPO is quoted below issue price.
Reasons not clear.
News people may be thinking on this lines:
Proabably was not really oversubscribed to the extent claimed
Allocation mechanism is unclear.
Possible Dhs > USD exchange rate change
Consequences I can guess..
Will become difficult for other companies to go to market
Will become difficult for DPW to approach market again.
Short term speculators would have been burned badly

obesity
I was waiting in the doctor's room. Just counted number of people who were obese.
My estimate is that about 60% of the population here is obese.
Obesity is becoming a epidermic...... especially among Indian and Arab population.

Gujarat elections
Few observations:
1. Many of the BJP defectors were given tickets promptly by Cong.. The point is moment they jumped the ship they became untouchable 'merchants of death' to paragons of virtue. Most of them were given the boot by the people, as expected.Anyway, most of the fellows were incompetent/corrupt morons,
2. Superb marketing effort by BJP/Modi
a. Clarity of message
b. Change of message in response to message from competition
b. Branding - colour scheme of Modi, stage, flags etc

Citibank woes
Kind of expected problems with Citibank.
I had a bad experience:
Citi was happy to accept my small IMD (issued by Govt of India) deposit of $USD 25,000, promising the best commission among all the agents in dubai.
During accepting deposit no questions were asked and was told that on allotment commission will be paid promptly.
They gave all types of excuses for not paying, making it clear that they don't want small customers like me. Finally, afater many months I wrote a nasty eamil to their head guy & openly insulting the manager here finally I got my money.
This is typical charteristic of a bank which promises a lot during accepting the money but thinks nothing of not delivering it when it is time to give returns.

Foreign exchange rates
UAE has decided not to change exchange rate w.r.t. USD along with other GCC states.
I can understand the decision not to move from Dollar peg but can't understand why
rate could not be changed.
Those of us from other countries like India, UK etc it is pretty bad
*- INR has appreciated by 12% this year alone
* - Relentless inflation and cost of living expenses imposed by the govt agencies
Places like S'pore govt keep a tight lid on living expeneses of common people to
make it attractive for investment

leadership
Lately, I have been reading up on leadership
Characteristics of a visionary leader in my view :
1. See a trend ahead of others
2. Ability to take a decision with insufficient information; ability to take risks & tolerance for mistakes
3. Constancy of purpose
4. Support people who do original things and are unconventional

Suzuki vs Taoyota share price movement
According to news reports Suzuki shares are rated higher than Toyota mainly because its company in India (Maruti Suzuki) is doing extremely well and insulated from turmoil in advanced countries.
Good to know this as my call to buy shares quite a while ago in this company has tuned out to be correct .

democracy in Bhutan
I have been reading in newspapers and net that king wants to kick start democracy in Bhutan.
People are (& have been) happy with the way the king has ruled all these years. now he has set up dummy elections.
All the problems, shortcomings will start now... creating misunderstanding between various groups, corruption etc etc.
My view is that for a small countries with underdeveloped economies democracy can be very bad indeed.
Another bad move is allowing commercial TV from India and western soaps
My feeling is that country is heading slowly towards disaster

Circus in Karnataka
Another govt, falls!
This nothing but o power struggle masquerading as principle of high ideology.
When D Gowda was in power 9through his son) he had no problem in associating with
BJP. Moment he looses power has is damn uncomfortable with "communal" force.
His problem is that once a person becomes the PM he can't become CM of a state.
